Growing up in this picturesque town, Luis was captivated by the sea and developed an early passion for fishing. From his childhood days, he could often be found on the water every weekend, exploring the rich marine life with his friends and participating in numerous fishing tournaments that were held across the island. These formative years allowed him to master various light tackle techniques and lay the groundwork for a lifelong career in fishing. With over 30 years of fishing experience under his belt and 21 years of professional charter service, Captain Luis has become a revered expert in the field. His journey began on the local waters, but his ambition led him to work as a mate on offshore sport fishing charter boats, where he honed his skills and gained valuable experience. By the late 1990s, he had achieved a significant milestone in his career: earning his U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License. This accomplishment marked the beginning of a new chapter in his professional life, as he started captaining private sport fishing yachts and offering inshore fishing charters. Throughout his career, Captain Luis has had the privilege of fishing across Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, broadening his expertise and deepening his love for the sport. As a 100-ton Master Captain and a proud member of esteemed organizations such as the Puerto Rico Light Tackle Anglers Club, the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), and the Puerto Rico Sportfishing Association, he is well-respected in the angling community. With twenty one years in charter experience and fishing for more than thirty years, fishing is more than his passion, is his lifestyle. He stared fishing in tournaments when he was a little kid. Winner of multiple inshore tournaments, he fished every weekend with his friends around the island learning different light tackle fishing techniques. He worked his way up by working as mate in offshore sport fishing charter boats. In the late nineties, he got his U.S.C.G. captain license and started working as captain on private sport fishing yachts and also worked part-time on inshore/back country fishing charters. Working on private sport fishing yachts gave him the opportunity to fish all around Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Today as a U.S.C.G. 100 tons Master Captain and light tackle fishing guide, fisherman and conservationist, Capt. Luis fishes in an all release basis. Member of the Puerto Rico Light Tackle Anglers Club, IGFA and Puerto Rico Sportfishing Association, Capt.
