Meet Captain Luis Lagrandier

Meet Captain Luis Lagrandier and Puerto Rico Sportfishing Charters

Captain Luis Lagrandier was born and raised in Dorado, Puerto Rico, where the waters of the north coast became a central part of his life from an early age. What began as a childhood pastime soon developed into a lifelong dedication to fishing. With over 30 years of fishing experience and more than two decades working in the charter industry, Captain Luis has built a career grounded in skill, consistency, and deep respect for the ocean. For him, fishing isn't just a job—it's a way of life shaped by years on the water.

He started entering fishing tournaments as a young boy, often spending weekends fishing across the island with friends and experimenting with light tackle techniques. Over time, he gained hands-on experience working as a mate on offshore sportfishing boats, where he learned the ins and outs of both inshore and offshore angling. In the late 1990s, he earned his U.S.C.G. captain’s license and began running private sportfishing yachts, expanding his knowledge by fishing throughout Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

Now a U.S.C.G. 100-Ton Master Captain and respected light tackle guide, Captain Luis is known for his conservation-focused approach and commitment to catch-and-release fishing. He’s an active member of the Puerto Rico Light Tackle Anglers Club, the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), and the Puerto Rico Sportfishing Association. Whether guiding first-timers or seasoned anglers, he’s always eager to share techniques, local insights, and his passion for the sport.

Captain Luis runs his trips aboard a well-maintained, fully equipped vessel designed for both comfort and performance. Outfitted with quality electronics, safety equipment, and reliable tackle, the boat is ready for everything from deep sea runs to inshore casting. With gear and layout tailored for light tackle and live bait fishing, it offers guests a solid platform to fish efficiently and comfortably in Puerto Rico’s productive waters.
